Questions, answered

Setup, linking, what gets tracked, and what to do when something does not show up. Commands are typed in Discord, in a channel Squadbook can see. Each game Squadbook follows on its own has a page too: Tabletop Simulator, League of Legends, and WARDOGS.

Getting started

How do I set it up in my server?
  1. Add Squadbook from the home page.
  2. Run /setup. It asks for an organizer role, a channel, and a default game. You can skip any of them.

That is the whole server setup. After that, turn on the parts your group wants. Each one is separate, and you can use one or all of them:

Does everyone need to do something, or just one person?

One person sets up the server. Everyone else only links the accounts they want tracked: Steam, a Riot ID, or nothing at all. Friends who never link anything can still be added to a game by name as guests.

What does it cost?

Logging, stats, leaderboards, achievements, and every link on this page are free. Premium is per server and adds unlimited history, archived seasons, leaderboard images, and CSV export.

Steam

How do I link Steam?
  1. In Steam, open your profile, right-click the page, and choose Copy Page URL.
  2. In Discord, run /steam link and paste that link into the profile box.
  3. Open Steam and accept the friend invite from Squadbook Companion. If you were already friends with it, there is nothing to accept.

An organizer also picks where session cards post, once per server, with /config steam.

Why does a Steam account need to be my friend?

The friendship is your on and off switch. Squadbook only follows members who linked Steam in Discord and have Squadbook Companion on their friends list, so nobody is tracked by accident, and removing it stops tracking at once. It reads the status line under your name, the same text your friends list shows, and nothing more. It has no access to your account, your inventory, or your chats.

How does profit and loss tracking work?

Some games put a running figure in the friends list, for example a loss of $13,905. While you play, Squadbook follows that line within seconds and updates a live card in Discord. The game sets the figure back to zero when a new match starts, so Squadbook banks what each match came to and your session result is all of them added up. Then the live card is replaced by the result, with today's total and the last seven days.

/steam pnl shows your daily totals per game, your best and worst sitting, and what you are up or down right now. Add user: to look at a friend.

Right now the only Steam game Squadbook follows is WARDOGS. Any other game you play is left alone: no session is recorded and no card posts.

Will Squadbook Companion ever message me or send a trade?

No. It never sends messages, links, or trade offers, and it only sends a friend invite to someone who just ran /steam link. If an account with that name messages you or offers a trade, it is an impostor. Block it and report it to Steam.

How do I stop it?

Remove Squadbook Companion from your Steam friends list. Tracking stops at once, with nothing else to do. /steam unlink also removes the link on the Discord side. Sessions already recorded stay in your history unless a server organizer erases the server's data.

My library came back empty when I linked.

The "games everyone owns" feature reads your public library. In Steam, open Edit Profile, then Privacy Settings, and set Game details to Public. Then run /steam sync. Session tracking does not need this, because it goes through the friendship.

League of Legends

How do I link my Riot ID?
  1. Run /link riot.
  2. Type your Riot ID with the tag, like Name#1234, and pick your region.

Games you play after linking log themselves a minute or two after they end. Nothing from before you linked is pulled in.

My ARAM Mayhem games do not show up.

Riot keeps some modes, ARAM Mayhem among them, out of its public API, so no bot can see them there. The Squadbook Companion app for Windows reads finished games from your own League client and sends them in, every mode included. Run /link app in Discord for the token it asks for.

My friend does not want to install anything. Do they still get stats?

Yes. If they ran /link riot and played in the same game as someone who has the app, their row is filled in from that person's report.

How are grades worked out?

Each player is ranked against the whole lobby on damage, kill participation, KDA, and the better of healing or damage taken, so tanks and healers are judged on their job. The blend becomes a grade from S+ to D. Grades only appear when at least four players' numbers are known.

Tabletop games and Tabletop Simulator

How do I log a game by hand?
  1. Run /game start. It asks who is playing, prefilled from your voice channel.
  2. A card appears in the channel. Everything after that is buttons on the card: eliminate a player, change life, pass the turn, end the game.
  3. When the game ends, the result, the story of the game, and any achievements post on their own.

With no game named it starts Commander. Add game: to pick any of about seventy others, from Catan to Rocket League, or make your own with /game template create. For a game that is already over, /game quick logs it in one line.

Do I need Tabletop Simulator?

No. The card in Discord works for any table, including a real one. Tabletop Simulator only removes the button pressing: the table object fills in the players, life, knockouts, and turns for you.

How do I connect my Tabletop Simulator table?
  1. In Discord, in the channel where games should post, run /link tts and copy the token.
  2. Subscribe to Squadbook Table on the Steam Workshop.
  3. In Tabletop Simulator, with your table loaded, open Games, then Workshop, click the three dots on Squadbook Table, and load it into your table. Right-click the object and choose Save Object, and from then on it is under Objects, Saved Objects.
  4. Paste the token into the text box on the object and click away. It is saved on the object.
  5. Once everyone is seated with decks out, press Send to Squadbook.

Turn on Turns in Tabletop Simulator and every turn is timed as well.

What does the table object read?

Seated players and their seat colors, commanders, life trackers, knockouts, and turn changes. During the game it also reads the board: the names of face-up cards on each battlefield, whose deck each came from, what is attached to what, and hand, library, and graveyard counts. Cards in your hand are counted, never read. It uses Tabletop Simulator's own scripting, with no memory reading and no overlays.

How do I attach equipment or an aura to a creature?

Stack the creature on top of the cards you want attached, right-click the stack, and choose Attach / Detach (Squadbook). The creature stays out and the rest tuck under its left edge and move with it. The same item on that creature takes everything off again. It needs no other mod.

Which tables does it work with?

It has been tested on four-seat and six-seat scripted Commander tables. It finds each seat's battlefield, library, and graveyard on its own, first from the table's own zones and otherwise by their shape and where they sit. If a table is unusual, you can name scripting zones with the seat color, such as "Blue Playmat" and "Blue Library". The Tabletop Simulator page lists everything the object adds to the table.

Achievements and bragging

Where do I see achievements?

/brag list shows every achievement, the share of your server that has it, and a check on yours. /brag show posts your trophy case, rarest first. Unlocks are also announced after the game that earned them.

What is /brag claim for?

Some feats never reach anything the bot can read, such as winning without dealing combat damage. Run /brag claim, start typing the achievement, and pick it from the list. The bot posts your claim and another player from that game presses Confirm. You cannot confirm your own.

Why are some achievements hidden?

A few are surprises. They stay out of the list until someone in your server stumbles into one, and then everyone can see it.

Fixing things

A command is missing, or it says "Loading options failed".

Press Ctrl+R in Discord to reload it, wait a minute, and try again. New commands can take a few minutes to reach every server, and a list can fail to load for a moment while the bot restarts after an update.

I closed my game and no session card posted.
  • Cards only post for the Steam games Squadbook follows, which right now is WARDOGS.
  • Cards post about two minutes after you quit, and only for sittings of five minutes or more.
  • An organizer has to pick a channel once with /config steam.
  • You have to be Steam friends with Squadbook Companion. Run /steam link again and it will tell you whether you are.
The Steam friend invite never arrived.

Check the pending invites in your Steam friends window. If it is not there, add Squadbook Companion as a friend yourself. It accepts requests from anyone who has run /steam link, usually within a minute.

The Squadbook Table object spawned as a plain block with no buttons.

That is an old copy. Delete it, load a fresh one from the Workshop listing, and save it over the old one in Saved Objects. Paste your token into its box before pressing Send.

Your data

What does Squadbook store about me?

Your Discord id and display name, the games you took part in, and whatever you chose to link. The full list is in the privacy policy. It does not read messages and does not store voice.

How do I delete it?

A server organizer can erase everything Squadbook holds for that server with /config delete-all-data. It is immediate and permanent. You can remove your own links any time with /steam unlink and /link riot-unlink.
