What Squadbook stores
When you use Squadbook in a Discord server, it stores the minimum needed to keep score:
- Server: the server id and name, and the settings its organizers choose.
- Players: your Discord user id and the display name you use in that server, so results can be attributed to you. Guests added by name are stored as that name only.
- Games: which game was played, who took part, seats, teams, finishing positions, scores, life totals, eliminations, win conditions, timestamps, turn timings, and, for Magic, the commander or deck used.
- Decks and loadouts you register, including any list link you provide.
- Seasons, sessions, events, RSVPs, predictions, boards, and tournaments created in the server.
- Ratings and achievements derived from your games.
- Optional Steam link: if you run
/steam link, your public 64-bit Steam id, your public persona name, and a cached copy of the games your public profile lists, with playtime. Nothing private on Steam is accessible to Squadbook. - Optional Steam sessions: if you link Steam and are Steam friends with the Squadbook Companion account, Squadbook records, for the games it follows only (currently WARDOGS), when each sitting starts and ends, and the status line that game shows in the Steam friends list (for some games, a profit and loss figure), recorded as it changes. Only linked members who are friends with that account are recorded. Removing it from your friends list stops this.
- Optional League of Legends link: if you run
/link riot, your Riot ID, region, and account identifier, plus the results of games played after linking: mode, champion, kills, deaths, assists, damage, healing, and similar end-of-game numbers. - Optional companion app: the Windows app reads finished games from your own League client and sends them to Squadbook. It sends nothing from before it was installed and nothing besides game results.
- Optional Tabletop Simulator link: a hashed token per channel and, when the table object is used, the Steam names and ids of seated players, seat colors, turn timings, life counter values, knockouts, and snapshots of the table during a game: the names of face-up cards on each battlefield, which seat owns and controls them, what is attached to what, the card names in each starting deck, and hand, library, and graveyard counts. Cards in hand are counted, never read.
- Movie nights: which films your server marked as watched, when, and who pressed the button, plus each member's 1 to 5 rating of a film (their Discord id and the number) which members pressed I'm in for a night, and the films an organizer put on the server's own short list or backlog. Posters are loaded from Wikipedia by Discord when a card is shown.
- Problem reports: when you use
/reportor press Report this, what you wrote, your Discord id and username, the server and channel, the bot version, and the last error you hit in the hour before (its reference code, where it happened, and the error message). Reports go to a private channel the Squadbook team reads. - Votes: when you vote for Squadbook on top.gg, top.gg tells Squadbook your Discord id and the time, which is how
/votecounts votes and how Wrapped shows the supporter badge. - Premium: entitlement records that Discord sends when a server subscribes.
Squadbook does not read message content and does not store voice. It uses Discord presence for one purpose: noticing when a member who linked a Riot ID starts or finishes a League of Legends game, so the result can be posted. Presence is not stored.
How it is used
Only to provide the features you see: cards, stats, leaderboards, reminders, and summaries inside your Discord server. Data from one server is not shown in another. Squadbook does not sell data, does not use it for advertising, and does not share it with anyone except the service providers below.
Service providers
- Discord delivers the bot and its interactions.
- Supabase hosts the database.
- Google Cloud hosts the bot and Cloudflare hosts this site.
- Scryfall provides Magic card data and images. Card lookups are served from Squadbook's own cache; no personal data is sent to Scryfall.
- Steam, the Riot Games API, and IGDB are queried only for the optional features described above.
- Wikidata is searched for film titles when an organizer adds a film to a backlog. Only the typed title is sent.
- top.gg sends vote notices when someone votes for Squadbook there.
Retention and deletion
Data is kept while the bot is in your server. Any server organizer can erase everything Squadbook holds for that server with /config delete-all-data, which is immediate and permanent. Individual players can remove their Steam link with /steam unlink and their Riot link with /link riot-unlink, and can stop Steam session tracking by removing Squadbook Companion from their Steam friends. To have your personal data removed from every server, contact the address below with your Discord user id.
Children
Squadbook is for Discord users who meet Discord's minimum age requirements.
